Floating in Your Dreams? Wake Up and Float.

Aghhhh, the Maldives... sunshine, great beaches, luxurious resorts. So incredible that you feel like you're floating. But, get this, you will actually be floating. That's because the Maldives has the world's first floating city in the Indian Ocean. If you're asking why would there be a floating city, the answer is really one of necessity. The Maldives' highest natural point is about a bit above over 7 feet above sea level. With rising waters threatening the land, why wait until the ocean claims the land? The Maldives took things into their own hands and the land claims the ocean. Take that, rising waters!

The city is made up of hexagon-shaped floating platforms to mimic the natural beauty of coral reefs and has houses, shops, and schools. Think less gridlocked rush hour traffic and more peaceful living. Get some fresh seafood at a waterfront cafe and then relax watching the sunset while the gentle waves rock you to sleep. Spas can't even simulate that. You won't get seasick because the city was engineered to stay stable. It was also crafted to thrive in harmony with the environment with solar panels, green spaces, efficient waste management systems, and special construction materials used to hold up, be recyclable and, well, buoyant.

Here's hoping the next party invite I receive will state a location as cool as this place. It's like a luxurious cruise ship without porting. I'd like to stay in luxury, sure. The views would be incredible and the sunset would be reflected twice - once in the sky and once in the water. Imagine when there are rainbows! This city works with the ocean, not against it. Cya, rush hour traffic. I'm in.
